I flushed and refilled my coolant with more dexcool and it continues to work flawlessly. Never been above 210-212 degrees and thats with both So Cal freeway parking lots and desert trips and all that.

after 5 years and about 65000 miles my dex cool was clear, orange, and not thick or gooey at all. Maybe some people had bad luck with it, but its worked perfectly for me.

Have had multiple GM cars using Dexcool, including 2-1996's. Never an issue.

Dex cool is not much more than the other antifreeze anyway, maybe $2 or so more a jug.

It is true that dex-cool breaks down, I have seen it in higher millage cars, but so does just about every other antifreeze, it is not only the antifreeze that is breaking down but so is the rest of your coolant system components, your hoses and everything else starts to degrade and particles from these are picked up and help create the sludge. I don't care what GM or any other manufacture says, I change coolant every 50 K on every vehicle I have owned.
This ensures the petcock valve does not cease for one and you drain it all out, flush it with water, drain it all out, refill with Dex-cool, clear air out of the system and you have new fresh coolant for another 50,000 miles all for less than $50.
