Tired of Your Aux Port?

I was, so on my days off this week, I decided to do something about it.

I took my radio out, got my speaker wire and electrical tape out and I got ahold of a soldering iron and solder. Once I got my radio out, I took the face off, and noticed that the aux port is a separate chip with the aux port soldered to it and four wires running from that to the main board. I cut those wires in half (no turning back now). Since I had the soldering iron already plugged in and heating up, I melted the coating off of the wires just enough to get a soldering point. (its pretty much self explanatory from here about the rest of the soldering) I basically made the aux port a three foot extension.

After I was done I was faced with what to do, so I cut a slot out of the case of the radio, and then put it all back together, and I fed my new Aux Port Connection down and into my center console, then put everything together.

For now I just have my aux cable running under the center console to my armrest where my Ipod sits, but I will soon get a new Ipod controller and fix it for good where I won't have anything but a hidden Ipod connector/controller plug and a spot for the Ipod to sit. (my old Ipod controller I had rigged into my cig lighter crapped out because it wasn't on a switched circuit, that will be fixed soon as I get the new controller. I will try to get pictures next week of what I did. I was all done with the re-installation when I realized I should have gotten pictures.

No, it is hidden, and I have nothing sticking out of the radio, it is all in the center console.

the pics aren't going to be pretty though, I had to use a lot of electrical tape to keep the solder connections from breaking or the aux port with the chip and new connections from getting messed up too. I'm still in the process of perfecting my set up.
