How Do I Fix a Noisy Fan?

I love my 2005 Cobalt, but the one thing that annoys me the most is the dang climate control fan. Even at the 1 setting, it sounds too loud and tinny. At 2 it is really bad so I rarely turn it up even that high. The 3 setting is deafening.

If I could just do something to get the fan to run silently, the car would be so much quieter.

Is there anything I can do myself? Can car places fix this problem at a fair price? Anyone else notice this problem with their Cobalts?

Thanks.

Sounds like a bearing may be going out on it. May have to replace the blower assy.

I have a similar issue, just not as bad...

On setting 1 I can hear the the motor going "ehhhhhhhhhhh", not as noticeable on setting 2, but it is drowned out by the sound of whooshing air on setting 3.

Replace it with what? Aftermarket? And how much will it cost?
