Question Cobalt Seat Belt

I have a 2009 cobalt that was in a wreck and needed a drivers seat belt replaced. I installed one and it always locks up after you buckle up and then can't lean forward to reach anything unless you unbuckle and retract it all the way in and then rebuckle. Is there anythink I can do ?? like should it be bolted on differrent maybe at an angle ???seems like the balls in the mechanism lock it up....thanks

Have you tried just pulling the belt out slowly? My moms beetle will lock up sometimes if you pull it kind of fast.

You have to lean forward slowly, my Ram used to do that also. Actaully that probably kept my wife safe in the wreck she just had when she got broadsided in the Ram.
