Pissed Car TOWED!

well im at my girlfriends apartment complex and im getting ready to leave and i go to the spot where i parked and a ricer lookin dodge neon is in my spot parked all crooked so i start trippin. my girl calls the tow people and my car was towed. the thing is i parked my car and the e brake was up and car locked so how did they get my car towed. when i picked up my car my e brake was still up and it was still in park. on top of that my front brakes have a slight squeak now when i apply my brakes does that mean they dragged my car 30 min away with it in park and e brake on?

Why did they tow it? Were you illegally parked? If you were, you don't have much recourse.

That would tick me off also, but most apartments have assigned parking spots so you may have been in anothers. However, I doubt they would drag you car very far. Just probably would have lifted the front and wrenched the car up on a roll back trailer. The towing company should be able to provide that info.

i didnt have a parking sticker but all the cars around me didnt have a sticker so i thought it was ok to park there i mean i was only there for 2 hours. it cost me $203.00 to get my car back and it wasnt even in their lot for more than 1 hour. i gotta look over the receipt they gave me but its in my girlfriends car still since shes the one that took me to go get my car.

I'm sure they used a flat bed truck. They drug it out of the parking space and then drug it up and onto the flat bed tow truck.

they most likely used wheel skates on the wheels touching the ground if they were dragging

Generally when cars are towed for parking violations, they default to using the flatbed due to the possibility of the car being a manual transaxle in gear or with the brake on (Or AWD/4WD). Although the tow operator probably doesn't give a shit about your transaxle or brakes, he does care about his safety and workload, so he's not obviously going to try and drag a car with the back wheels locked up and cause a blowout in the tires of the car he's towing.

Anyways, if you were not a resident of the complex (Most places have a policy where only residents can park there), do not call the tow operator because someone was in your usual spot. They're just going to tow you instead. Its akin to calling the cops because someone was stealing your best marijuana plants. Bascially, trying to call that Neon in to be towed was shooting yourself in the foot because your car was probably there against regulations.

As far as your front brake squeak, it is unrelated to the eBrake. The eBrakes in the Cobalt only lock the rear wheels.
