High-mileager Could Use Advice

Hi all,
I bought my 2010 LT last year in May, and I've already passed the 30k mark thanks to my commute. I made the mistake already of trusting my oil gauge and so didn't do my first oil change until almost 10k. I've only done standard oil changes every 5k since then. Because of my tax return, I want to take care of any important maintenance, but it's hard to tell what is good and what is overkill. Even the sticky about scheduled maintenance has opposing viewpoints. Any advice or suggestions of what I could do now (or should do soon) would be appreciated.

Okay....... I did that already. I am interested to hear if people think a high-mileage situation is any different - to do more or less than the manual recommends.

Welcome to the forum,

It sounds like you should be in pretty good shape yet. I don't typically go by the manual's recommended service intervals. Maybe that makes me old school, but I figure fluids are cheap insurance against costly component wear. Some of their standards seem really unwise to me. Anyway, below is my standard schedule, which is a little more on the aggressive side.

This is what I do:
1. Oil/filter change every 3,500-4,000 miles. Non-synthetic.
2. Cabin & engine air filters every 15,000 miles or after season change.
3. Radiator flush/fill every 30,000 miles or 24 months. Have the Dex-cool thoroughly flushed out and go with standard long-life antifreeze. Dex-cool has been reported to sludge if left in too long or if the mix is off. This advice was strongly given by a 20-year GM mechanic.
4. Brake fluid every 45,000 miles.
5. Spark plugs every 40,000 miles. AC Delco only.
6. Fuel filter every 25,000-30,000 miles.
7. Tranny fluid/filter every 30,000 miles.
8. Inspect/replace radiator hoses every 60,000 miles
9. Battery every 4 years.
10. Inspect/Service brakes as needed (at 60K and doing mine).

I would ad- on oil change, it is pretty well understood these days that the 3000 mile changehas been way oversold. Dino is OK for 5000 miles, even a year. But, I use fully synth (not just synth), and go for 10,000 easy or 1 year. UNLEEx you do frequest stop/go, high congested traffic/short trips (less than 20 minutes one way). Then, do <5000 dino.

I have over 102000 miles on my 2006 LS and have only had to replace tires and rotors once, get my oil changed about every 5000 miles with a synthetic blend and at the same time replace my air filter. other than that, nothing has been replaced or changed but will be doing the transmission fluid and filter in the next few months.

i definitly have not had any of that done other then oil changes and tranny fluid changed and im running strong at over 115K lol maybe i should do some of that

air filters are good for 30,000++ miles unl;ess you drive in dusty [places.

Probably some But carefully consider doing the tranny at this point. It's my understanding that if you've waited this long, replacing the fluid could do more harm than good. After this amount of time, there may be some damage to the seals. If oxidized fluid and debris have built up around the seals, you may be introducing a screen door on a submarine should you decide to flush it.
