Cobalt > Deer
So I was driving a back road with some of my friends as were heading back to my dorm. All of them sudden I hear one of my friends curse, and a deer darts out into the road just ahead of us. I was going 55 and slammed on the brakes, but the deer still wasn't fast enough and I ended up hitting it at about 35.
The car was still driving so I drove it to a gas station to inspect the damage. The plastic casing for my right front light was shattered, but the light was still fine. The very edge of my hood has a dent in it, and my right fender has a dent (along with some deer uglies...), but other than that the front end was completely undamaged which surprised the hell out of me given how hard I hit the deer. I also was worried because as I drove the accelerator pedal had locked up and wouldn't depress beyond a certain point, but as soon as I shut off the car it released, so I'm hoping the computer just needed to reset. All in all, I'm just surprised my car held up like it did, I would have thought any animal that big would total a compact car.
I feel bad for the deer because I'm pretty sure my cobalt got off a lot easier than it did...
Any thoughts on what the repair cost might be? I can live with the dents for a bit, but I'd really like to replace the headlight casing so I was thinking of just going to a junkyard.
