Minor Competition Drag Racing?

So our small town holds an annual drag race on fathers day. This year they postponed the races until this weekend because the weather was so shitty on the original date. These races are really small- 100ft strip and only a $25 entry fee- anyone can enter if they want.

While I was watching, the manager at the business I work at was there and we were talking about the races. He mentioned to me that if I so wished, he'd be completely willing to sponsor me for next years races.

So I got to thinking. I drive a FWD, Automatic Cobalt. The races aren't super professional, and they'll even pair me with other FWD automatics. I've installed a CAI, and I have been researching and saving for a new exhaust, headers, intake manifold, tune and FE5 suspension.

So, with that in mind- will those upgrades potentially give me enough torque to be competitive? I don't really intend to win, but I do intend to not be eliminated in the first race. Is there anything else that *doesn't* require an engine rebuild that I will need to gain a competitive edge? Any thoughts, tips, or ideas that will help?

As in Engine mounts? Don't those require removing my engine?

no, you just have to support it while you remove and replace.
