Squeaks and Rattles

One of the first things any Cobalt owner notices is the crazy amount of squeaks and rattles these cars can produce. We occasionally get posts about some of the more suspect noises (dome light, license plate, etc). I thought it might be beneficial to make a thread about the more elusive ones, because let's be honest, they will drive a person insane.

If you've tracked down an annoying noise in your car, it would be great to know where it was and what you did to stop it.

lol I'm getting all kinds of clunks and now a metallic rattle all underneath my car. I have yet to figure any of it out. I also have a rattle noice in my engine and I'm sure it's the timing chain/tensioners.

I've got one coming from one of the rear seat backs. I plan to work on it in the next few days. If I get it, I'll update lol.

So one of the most constant and annoying squeaks is coming from my rear seat backs rubbing against the frame. Any time I hit a bump it's there. I dropped them down today and no noise. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions of what I might use to insulate the frame where the seat backs rest. Ideas?

I've fixed too many squeaks and rattles to remember. And they keep showing up in new places all the time. I take them on one by one.

LOL. Time to start duct taping the crap out of everything. It'll look like a Honda in no time.
