Question Mod the LS Sedan or Hold Out for New Vehicle?

I can't decide whether or not it is worth it to mod my 2.2 sedan manual or just hold out for a new car in a few months or so. My plans (if I keep the balt) are mainly performance and interior based. I'd like to keep a simple exterior for the most part. (Sleeper look) With a goal of a decently quick 2.2 with a more handling and acceleration base. I want to use it for autox and as my daily. But wouldn't mind to have some good power for acceleration. Top speed is not really a huge desire.
Would it be worth modding cost wise vs buying another car?

depends on what kind of car you're looking at and how deep your pocket is. blackbalt autocross's his n/a cobalt and he does pretty well. to upgrade your suspension to a respectable set up, it would cost you roughly 1k or so. but then you're looking at engine mods which will be another 800 or so for basic cheap bolt ons

We need to make a sticky thread labeled "to upgrade the ls or buy an SS"!!

I would not want to DD my cobalt with the mods I have done now to be honest. Every bump feels like its the end of my suspensions life!! lol I'm roughly 3k into mods between performance, suspension, and interior/exterior mods. I have around another 1.5k planned to go in depending.

Not saying dont do it, but if you want a decently competitive NA cobalt AutoX car. This is roughly where you need to be.

Banker, the list of what potential cars I want goes on and on lol. Cost for mods over time isn't a problem, although I want more than just simple bolt ons eventually. I planned on suspension upgrades and tires first just to get into the autox racing and get some practice.
Blackbalt, I've been looking for a thread like that lol... I think I'll stick with my ls and enjoy making it my own thing. Other than your super sweet suspension, any advice on performance upgrades to start out? I'm plan on eventually going fi but not very soon

you really don't have a lot of options as far as bolt ons go. i would personally stick with a shorty header and downpipe combination with a 2.25 or 2.5 catback. keep the stock throttle body and get a tune

Mostly correct, just something to add. Because Auto X courses can vary from very long, high speed to short, low speed courses. The 2.2 TB does not give you the high end gains that you need for the long courses. I personally have two tunes on my computer, one for the 2.2TB and another for a 2.4TB depending on course layout.

In auto x the second you tune your car you automatically jump to a new, very competitive class. So if you are going to have the tune you might as well be prepared for both types of courses. There were plenty of times last year I wish I had that 2.2 tune.
