Vacuum Hose

I'm rounding up a few odds and ends for the vacuum gauge and I figured I'd toss out a question for anyone who wants to share. In your experience, is it better to go with silicone, reinforced, or just stick with a standard composite vacuum hose? I'm primarily looking at avoiding kinks during the install.

Also, for anyone with the 2.2 manifold, is the capped off vacuum port under the TB 1/4"? I'd love to check, but I'm stuck at work indefinitely.
