Pcv Valve? Car Bunring Oil?

I need to know if my 2005 Chevy Cobalt has a pcv valve or not. If it does where is it located. Thanks. I believe the car is burning oil. I get the oil changed regularly, but it always seems to run low or be bone dry way before I am due for my next oil change. I took it to a mechanic for another issue and he said when he drove it out of the garage blue smoke came out of it which means burning oil. He thought it was the pcv valve and said if my car had one it could be fixed and the car would be ok, otherwise, if I didn't have this valve then the oil was getting into the engine and damaging it and it is only a matter of time before I need a new car. He looked the car over and told me I didn't have this valve and that he doesn't know why I am going through oil so fast and to just get a new car. I had someone else look at my car and said that the type of engine I had should have this valve. Now I am confused. I was hoping to get another year or two out of the car as I am not as financially prepared as I'd like to be to buy a car. Thanks for the help I am clueless when it comes to cars.

No PCV valve but vent hose to intake might be plugged.

Could also be a number of other things. Check your compression, if it's unusually low in one or more cylinders, you may have a bad piston ring/s.

Is this something someone knowledgeable about cars could check or is it too involved and need a mechanic. I was going to ask a friend who has owned Chevy cars there whole life and is knowledgeable about them to check for me, but I don't want him to make him bit off more than he can chew such as having to take apart the whole engine or something just to check it.

I see they make compression test kits can I just buy one of those and have someone check it for me or is this something only a mechanic would be able to do. Thanks for the reply. If I can figure out the issue with my car and not have to be a new one just yet that'd be great, but I keep getting told with the car being over 10 years old it isn't worth fixing.
