possible recall ?

I own a 2006 and I have a co-worker who also owns a 2006. He told me today that Chevy has a recall dealing with the "chip" in the ignition not "talking" to a "chip" in the shifter. What he told me was that somehow they stopped communicating and tried to remove his key but would only go to ACC and could not remove it while after some time drained the battery. He said that he finally got it to a Chevy dealer and they said there is a recall going on with that problem. It took Chevy a few days to get the parts but he is back on the road.
Has ANYONE heard anything about this or something like this?

Auto trans?

I have a 2006 LS, Auto trans. The shifter assembly was replaced. The thing refused to go all the way into park, and as a result I could not turn the key all the way off.

Took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole thing under warranty.

Auto shifter....

There is no official recall that I have found.

I took my car in last spring, April, I think.

I had posted about this back when it happened, but alas, the site crashed and the data from that time is lost in ciberspace.

Give your local dealer a call.
