engine detailing

I want to detail my engine bay before I install my CAI. What products are recommended and how do I go about it? Engine bay is stock so what do I need to be careful not to spray or what needs to be covered? A couple shops here will do a great job for $40 but I'd rather save cash and do it myself.

Also, would it be ok to use a power washer like the DIY car washes have?

Thanks.

-Mike
