That is not what the rep from GM said. He told me $1,200. So, if that's not true then he was training the salesmen to lie to the customers about the price to upsell the LTZ...

Whatever the case, going back to a timing belt was not the smartest possible move.

going back to 1995 horse power and torque ratings wasn't very smart either!

So...does anyone know..what is the life expectancy for a timing chain.. i believe the chain would outlive the belt but by how long? you could replace the belt a couple of times ( of course, not if it is $1200) but what happens when the chain break..kaput!!

You have no idea what you are talking about. The 1.4 trubo is much more responsive than my Cobalt ever was.

I'll buy that. They said that the 1.4 turbo makes peak torque at only 1800 rpm. That's awesome.

Will,

Yes, you are correct. Having owned 7 Ford F-150s, I went to a test drive event with the new 2011 Ford F-150s. The Ecoboost V-6 is very similar to the 1.4, in that it produces torque very quickly and low in the rpm band and maintains that torque throughout the band, better than the V-8s. The 1.4 does the same. Anyone who thinks this is 1995 technology needs to get a clue.

It's all about what you want. The Cruze LTZ has amazing low end torque, but the Cruze LTZ will not reach the top speed of the Cobalt LS. Then again, it will get there a lot quicker. This is a total change from previous approach. Some will like it and some will not.

^^^^ While I like my balt a lot better than the Cruze, I totally agree with you that the Cruze is more advanced, and I think it will do very well for GM.

It is not a race car, nor is the current version intended to be. It is just a good over all car. The Cobalt was okay, but could not compete on a global level.
