How much will intake mods help?

I'm considering trying a cold air intake on my 05 cobalt.

Currently its 100% stock, I take it to the drag strip to bracket race and its also my daily driver.

My questions are; how much hp would it improve? What type of time improvement could I hope for? What type of mpg improvement is there?

I don't want to do this for only a tenth at the track and 1/2 mpg gain.

Also I'm a rookie diy, beyond the install is there anything else as far as upkeep or tuning that would need to be done or is it a simple plug and play type of deal.

Thanks for the help

Welcome to the site!

To be quite honest, An intake doesn't do much. You'd be lucky to see a tenth in the 1/4 from an intake alone. But as for MPG you can see 1-2 mpg as long as your not gunning it all the time. (Many ppl see worse mileage from there intake because they want to hear the deep sound at wide open throttle) An intake is mostly for sound but its a good start to all performance mods.

As for the install, its simple. just plug and play. And then the occasional filter cleaning.
