garrett turbo kit on a 2.2l auto?
unfortunately i have a 2008 2.2l 4spd instead of a 5spd stick and i want to add a little more power to it. i was thinking about getting a K&N typhoon cai and cat black exhaust but idk if thats enough for me. so should i bother getting a garrett kit even though its an automatic? thanks in advance
the garrett alpha kit is for 5 spd only. im sure you could piece together a turbo kit if you are mechanicaly inclined enough. or have the cash to pay a good shop. but im not positive. i know you can put the eaton supercharger from an lsj on an auto. and its alot cheaper. i know of an auto with that mod that is pushing 265 hp on stock internals. im no tech expert though, just read a little on the subject.
well i wasnt talking about the alpha kit, just essentials kit with the GT2860RS turbocharger. the actual site says the alpha is 05-06 manual only but doesnt specify with the other kits so thats why i was asking. did you mean an auto with the eaton supercharger pushing 265hp?
yeah i havent done alot of research on going turbo, so im not 100 percent sure about your application. and yes the eaton supercharger with auto. not sure about his other mods, but 265bhp couldnt possibly be be from just the eaton. he goes by HunterKiller89 on *************. ive only done minimal research on going with forced induction. its going to be a while before i get that far. just thought id share my minimal knowledge with you.

There is also a guy that put a turbo in an automatic 2.2 it was a sts system, a universal one. If you look up squires turbo system is should come up think he has about 250 or so to the wheels with tuning and cams. I was thinking about going this route but then I just kept my car as is and got a 91 Eagle Talon TSI FWD that has a turbo in it and is 5 speed so yeah. Any other questions just ask.

hmmm...if i decide to put in a kit in the future i dont have to necessarily get it tuned right? i mean i'm not trying to completely mod my car, i just want a little more push than 148hp haha. i know that i will have to change my exhaust to probably a cat back system if i go that route. but if i decide not to put in the kit and still get the cat back system, is it still worth it? i know the benefits of changing your stock exhaust but wont it make me look like i'm "trying hard" when everything under the hood is still stock?
You have to tune with any type of forced induction.. Plain and simple.. But no there are many people who have cat-back exhaust systems with no other mods. Sure It won't do a whole lot, but the car will sound better (if done correctly) and free up a little horsepower..

if ou contact trifecta tuning and tell them what supporting mods you have and plan to add they can help you.
