1000$ Budget Bang for Buck

so im sitting on a 1k budget for work I want to do to my balt, lookign to do pretty much pure performance.

what are the best mods I can do for under 1k? (work will be done by a buddy and myself so labor costs are negligible)

any recomendations?

Performance parts usually get pretty pricey since well if you get cheap stuff you might as not even bother. I guess go for boltons like:

Cobalt / G5 Cat-Back Exhaust System Performance 17802111 - Crate Engine Depot

And a cold air intake

Mods: debaged, carbon fiber hood, painted interior trim, lowered

intake, manifold, exhaust, tune, throttle body, each should be roughly $200 or so, might come out to like $1200 but still

a tune is essential on cobalts, i hear the ECU adjusts it self or something, making no power difference even if an intake or exhaust is installed. so tune it if you do that. Trifecta makes a good tune. I'd stay away from cams with that low of a budget because you wanna do it right. So mess with your air fuel and spark. Exhaust diameter shouldn't exceed 2.5" if its a N/A 4cyl engine. Also work with gearing if budget allows.
