lately ive just been noticing and its done it since ive had the car just been thinking abt it lately, when the car revs up it revs up relitivly slow then when u let off the gas it climbs down slowly also. i have a 06ss/sc is it something to do with it being stock?

well you rev up slow because it's stock and there's a lot of rotating mass. climbs down slow because fuel and spark still happens, which in turn, combustion still happens. it's fine

It's got nothing to do with the combustion process...

You hit the nail on the head with the rotating mass.

The SS/SC flywheel is heavy as ****. That's why it's quick to rev UP, but really slow to decel since it has to transfer all that energy elsewhere.

I understand its heavy! And yea I forgot to add the whole "your rotating mass is heavy and will take a while to slow down"

Lightweight flywheel...lighter weight accessories (such as billet tensioners/idlers/crank pulley) would also make the motor rev freer...a lot of what people overlook is the valvetrain...lighter lifters, stronger/lighter valvesprings, titanium retainers and such...all contribute a large amount.

If you've ever been in or driven a 3800, you'd know how laggy they are...

Swapping out the rockers for lightweight rollers, cromoly pushrods, Titanium retainers, upgraded springs, and a balanced rotating assembly made for a HUGE difference in the way the car picked up RPM's...and jsut the overall responsiveness of it all...was awesome.

Just something to think about.
