Cold Air Intake

I KNOW I KNOW.
I've recently moved from Alaska to Texas, and I've noticed a difference in my car. Noise + lower MPG's.
I feel like my car is trying to breathe. ( not literally )

So I've been looking into K&N's and Injen's.
Short ram or cold air?
intake or cold air intake?
is hydrolock really a thing to worry about? It doesnt rain THAT often here.
And I'm wondering if anyone can link me to the best one i can get for my car. Money is not an issue.

I'm also wondering if it is hard to DIY, and if it'll throw any codes?

Thanks

So can I do a K&N drop in, and then replace the tube?
Will that make the car louder also?

Drop-in filter, ZZP Intake tube...rip out all the crap in the fenderwell.

Best MAF readings for tune because stock airbox/MAF location...and just as good of performance as any CAI/SRI whatever...I noticed no gains when going from a gutted stock airbox to a conical filter anyways. Just more noise. You can screw around with the intake setup all day...but even the guy with the best intake out there isn't making more than half a wheel horsepower more than you, and then just laugh because he spent three times as much
