N/a Build Q's

With an na build are the minor gains noticeable or is boost the only way?

They are noticeable with a tune. Not that much though. If you want a real head jerker, forced induction is the way to go.

I can't afford boost so I was curious if na might be a good route.

You can reach 300hp n/a, but its gonna be a lot of work. Never impossible though, seen a n/a civic crx run 11's all day and all motor off a 1.8L and no issues.

So, it is possible, just a lot of building and parts, but boost is a cheaper route. I would rebuild the bottom end first for n/a, then work off valvetrain, without your external engine mods (intake, header, exhaust) you can achieve 300hp though.

300 hp n/a is probably not attainable on a 2.2/2.4. Hondas are much lighter cars and can be gutted, have 230hp and run 10s. These can't

Don't say can't, there's always a possibility. Look at the fastest FWD cobalt, although it has a turbo on it, pushed out 1700hp on a 2.2L Ecotec engine.
Far as a Daily Driver that can safely pass the upcoming 50 state emissions testing...doubtful.

CARB with the EPA is pushing it in which I totally agree on. Every state needs to have emissions testing and in 2016, lot of NOx and Smog producing vehicle owners get to see a $10,000 fine as a first offense.

So the question is a 06 ls with 130k worth boosting? I know for a fact the l61 has the most aftermarket due to the jbody crowd.
