Exhaust Wrap

Not sure if this counts as an engine mod, but what are your takes on wrapping up your header/dp? The idea I figure is to keep engine bay temperature down, and thus IATs down aswell. But I hear banter that it'll cut the life out of your exhaust system. Thoughts/comments?

You don't want to wrap stainless because the moisture that builds up between the stainless and the wrap can crack the stainless.

Fact.

I didn't think it was anything I really needed anyways, thanks for the insight.

Did it on my old cobalt to part of the exhaust that was prone to scraping. I was surprised how much it changed the tone of the exhaust for the better. I know, not at all what you were asking, but just sharing my experience.

Thank you for sharing. Learning from experience is great, but learning from another's experience is even better. Saves you the scraped knees and loose teeth of trial-and-error.
