Coolant Flush?

So my cobalt has 49197 miles

2008 LT

My dealer has told me twice to get a flush....just because of the year of the car plus the mileage.

Its never had a coolant flush before

DO I NEED ONE NOW?

I might add 2 things

1. I do notice water condensation inside of my expansion tank

2. The RED dexcool is not red anymore its like a burnt orange color

Dexcool is orange/pinkish, looks orange though. Condensation happens due to warm area, colder ambient conditions or vice versa

im a fan of coolant flushes every 5 years with dexicool. so your dealer would be correct as you right at about 5yrs. IIRC dexicool has a 150k/5yr life to it. I did my car when i first got it (among other things) just so i knew when everything was done and done right.

I do a full fluid flush of everything at 100k intervals. I'd do it then.

A little preventative maintenance never hurt anybody. Get the flush.

Usually they would drain the coolant and run water or a special substance through the coolant system to make sure it's clean. Then you drain all then water and fill with Dex cool again
