Cams

I have an 07 cobalt Ls with a 2.2. I have a shorty header and downpipe on it and a full exhaust on it. I'm about to get a stage 2 supercharger to install with a CAI. What is a place a can find some good cams for the car with all those new parts I. It?

To my knowledge, they don't make cams for '07 and up 2.2s. You can try getting them custom made but it may be pricey.

you cannot put aftermarket intake cam on your car. exhaust cam, yes, but that's not going to help you at all for what the cost would be.

I know Comp Cams company can build you camshafts at no additional cost from one of their fitted cams. I never knew about the intake cam, does it have a system like Nissan's VVEL? The 07-up uses VVT in which cam phasing is present, giving the best in fuel economy and performance.

Nissan's VVEL is quite unique, but you cannot upgrade the intake cam at all, JWT (Jim Wolf Technology) is working on a system to benefit for the exhaust cam, but their pricey for Nissan and worth the money for the power gains. The downfall on VVEL which most owners have no idea about, is that you cannot use standard or synthetic oil, it destroys the intake riders like crazy, you must use Ethos Oil.

Here is how VVEL works, quite impressive and wish GM got their hands on this technology!

You don't have variable valve timing at all as far as I know. That's only the LE5 (2.4) and the LAP (2.2 09-10).

He doesn't have vvt. There is a cam sensor pressed onto the intake cam in a specific spot on 07/08 l61. No aftermarket cams come with said intake sensor

Well that sucks. I think GM did that for that specific reason. Boo their engineers!

Heh, I guess they never would've thought there'd be people like us out there monkeying around with what is, in essence, an American Corolla.

Why wouldn't you be able to press the cam sensor on another camshaft?

Or have GM sell you a blank with the sensor in it and then have someone custom grind it?

These things are possible, I'm sure.

With enough money thrown at it, anything is possible.
