Turbo a 2.2 auto?

So since il be learning about this process and how to build performance for my 2.2 auto, what parts should i start to buy? Could I piece this together instead of getting a kit or should I get a kit?

Not as experienced as you guys with building this so gonna need as much help as possible to learn wtf I'm doing lol

With that being said how much in total overall would this project be? How would I start this process? What all do I need?

Information is key lol

And would it be ok to start this process on a car with 55k on it? Or should I just leave it alone.

You can turbo any car with any amount of miles on it.

Now as far as a parts list, you have those 3 options again. Cheap, reliable, or fast? What 2 do you want?

You can piece together a turbo kit far easier and cheaper than buying a kit brand new. And the total all depends on what all you're going to be doing. Are you doing internals for a full motor build? Or are you just doing the turbo parts. Are you installing yourself or having a shop do it? Are you going to be using name brand parts or off brand ebay parts? There are a lot of questions involved in what you are asking. Just keep in mind those 3 options and that you can only have 2 of the 3.

Also what are some of the goals you're trying to make?

What are your power goals? You can get everything needed for about $1500 but that's with making your own charge pipes and doing a lot of the work yourself. On the down side though you have to build the engine if you want anything over 230 reliably to the wheels (some would argue you can reliably go a bit higher but you'd definitely be pushing it). The engine build to do correctly would cost a minimum of $2k and much more if you want to do everything to it as Banker did.

Well i want reliable parts, I want to put it in myself hint the learning to do it part. What would you suggest?

So if I were to build an new engine then I might as well want the fast I was hoping I didn't have to go an build a new motor to turbo it instead of building the turbo. I'm not trying to be out of a car for a long time it's my dd Vehicle.

Goals just try to add performance to go along with the visual maybe be alil faster I'm not doing track with it if that means any thing and not cheap so I'd go reliable and fast I take it lol

I still say to just SC it then.

If you go turbo have a plan to build the engine in the future, get a second engine and collect parts to build that.

Yeah you can normally pick up a second one for not too much, then you can work on gathering parts and building it as your other one is still in the car with the turbo setup.

Stock engine will hold about 230 safely to the wheels buying a second engine and building it will allow you to run whatever the turbo is capable of to the wheels (probably 400's) but then the auto will have issues with that power.

230 hp to the wheels would be just like owning a Cobalt SS TC so if thats not enough power for your liking your going to have to invest into rebuilding your engine. I just accept that I have a slow car haha but it is faster than most other 4 cyl cars that ive raced : )
