Bumper Cover Alignment Problems

Hi everybody, new to this forum, not to forums... so don't worry i tried the search and everything and google too. So... I have a 2008 ls, and i have an issue with the bumper cover not laying flat in line with the d/s quarter panel. so if you ran your hand down the side of the car, you would come to where they meet and the cover is higher. My question is if this is a common problem? i know its not covered under warranty, and i would also like to know if its a pain in the backside to get this aligned? A tip to just aligning this part of it would help if you have it thanks in advance guys.

I don't think that is common. I have a 06 LS and I do not have that problem.

It is a very common problem for the bumper to be out of alignment. Ususally it's just around the headlights. If you pull out the headlight and headlight mount (all 10M bolts) you can see a few bolts to adjust

first off thank you guys for replying to me i appreciate it now...

camopaint: the gap is probably between 3/16" to 1/4" i think of it now, and maybe its not so much a gap but a bulge out of the bumper cover from the normal. so maybe i worded that wrong i can almost push it back in it will slide a little and then it will just pop back out. it seems like when the car was assembled they torqued from outwards to inwards. you get what i mean?

OBZ: i am talking about the rear bumper cover but thank you for that i may have use for it in the future

'06 black ls: yeah i looked up tsb's and recalls and found nothing so i figured either it wasnt too common or just wasn't on there yet

May be able to get pics up but i will have to see what my schedule says i have course finals going to UTI so i want to do really good

Wow that is crazy. This is the first I have ever heard of the rear bumper being out of alignment. Like OBZ said, the headlights line up that crap and that is very common, I see that on just about every Cobalt I see. If you bought it brand new you may be able to get that fixed I don't know. If you bought it used it could be that bumper was replaced once and it was not done correctly.

Yeah its nothing big really... but you know when your out there just looking at it (say after you washed it) and as much as you try not to, you know all the scratches and everything that isn't right. lol maybe a little over the top but what can i say i love my cars even for a cobalt or my previous 03 cavalier. i like taking care of em! Getting back to it though, I suppose i will have to undo the bumper and put it on correctly when i have time, or just get a body kit or whatever thanks again guys for all the help!
