Auto Shift Knob Trim Plate

Has anyone ever replaced their automatic shift knob trim plate? I need to paint it but idk how to remove it.


SOLD! 2.2 TURBOCHARGED. GT28 TURBO, 60# INJECTORS, WISECO PISTONS, EAGLE CONNECTING RODS, ZZP 3" DOWNPIPE, PACESETTER EXHAUST, K&N INTAKE, CUSTOM COLDSIDE PIPING, DEJON HOTSIDE PIPING, 2.4 INTAKE MANIFOLD,2.4 THROTTLE BODY, TRIFECTA TUNED.

Gently twist and lower the chrome piece until the threaded portion of the shift handle is exposed and removed the allen head screw from the knob and remove the knob.

For the actual trim plate around the shifter, I think you may have to mask it off to paint.

hmm should I just replace the whole shift handle and get a shift boot instead of masking it off and painting??

Uhhhh u don't need to remove the knob to take the plate off. Just pry it off slowly

How is it connected? Is it like glued to the shifter or is does it have like plastic inserts like the dash trim??

nono no..... Goto TWM shifters web site and put in your make in model car... Like ur gonna order a short shifter from them... And then click the install link and check out the installation....

I think all you gotta do is remove the cup holders and reach down inside and using two hands.... Pushing on the ckips from the inside, and pulling the ring and boot from outsideat the same time it will come off

even then I'm not sure if that ring will come off.... And you may still be stuck with just removing the boot..... Masking it off, painting, and putting the boot back on

Dude are u talking about tip trim that yountouch when shifting or the chrome trim underneath
