Factory Paint Issue

I was wondering if anybody is or has experience factory paint problems on their Cobalts.

It seems to me that they went really cheap with the layers of paint and even cheaper with laying a nice layer of clear coat down. I am getting chips in the paint. I have seen spray paint from a can last longer.

I intend on bringing it to the dealer friday cause i trashed out one of my rims thanks to a NYC pothole, but I was just curious to know if anybody else has had a problem with the paint getting chipped or gouged rather easily.

They will give you a BS answer about how its your fault or all the environmental issues, blah blah blah. I went in at 6K with chips all over the hoods and they blamed me, then went isn with the paint flaking off UNDER ther fender below the window and they blamed me again with all the body kit stuff I had installed. I never took off the fenders so how is that paint coming off??

Be prepared for a BS answer to your questions, one of the many reasons why this will be my last new GM product for a long time.

well the part above the windshield is my ONLY chipping on my car with 55k miles

now the SS bumper has a few rock chips, but it was painted at a body shop, not by GM.

All the stuff that was painted and installed by someone else has no chips from the road, and that is from 3 trips (1100 miles one way) out to inlaws and many miles on back roads out there.

It is such bullshit. 25 grand for a car and they can't even get the paint right. I am glad the powertrain wasn't built here.

Agreed^^^^^^^^ 4000 miles and chips everywhere, runs in the clear. I have never saw this bad of a factory paint job. I am really worried about this winter, western pa means salt and cinders for 6 months, the way my balt is going in just the summer there will be no paint on the hood by next spring.

all these paint issues is why I am really considering a CF hood at tax time or when I seel the house. Just do not want to run hood pins and detract from the look, I dont want every little snot nose punk trying to race me at lights, already have that with my Buell.

40,000 miles and 4 winters now and still have no problems. I also buff/wax my car twice a year.
