Black Out Entire Light Housing

I have read the diy on painting headlights. My question is has anyone just painted the entire inner chrome housing? I dont feel like taping it for one and for two I was trying to see what it would look like just completely blacked out. I have everything ready to paint just debating on all black or taping off as I have seen others do it.

Are you talking about the chrome "cups" where the lights are mounted? If you are do not do that, that is what makes the lights perform the way they do.
