FXR Mounting Methods

Hey guys, im looking to do a retro asap, ive used Mini h1's in a 9007 headlight before and the install was relatively easy. This time around id rather spend the money on the TRS full kit and retro FXR's because of the larger bowl and more output.

Im just curious to see the mounting methods that people have used here, im still a bit fuzzy on how exact to do them. Ive seen people just cut the back open and JB weld the entire projector in place, then ive seen it bolted in and JB welded... still really not clear, and I will not have an extra set of headlights to mess with so I dont want this to take a long time, my last mini retro only took a few hrs.

Lets see some shots of mounted FXR's or any other custom projector that isnt mounted in with locking rings!

PM BboyTaktix, I believe he has FXR's. Otherwise check hidplanet.com if you haven't already.

ya im on that site and it seems like everyone mounts them different and some guys have these crazy mounting systems built im looking for a the easiest/most simple method.

Im probably just going to go with mini h1's but im afraid they will look too small in the housings and I heard FXR's have much better output because of the size alone.

Mini H1’s would definitely be the easiest. I’ve read the FXR’s have better output too but the H1’s are still better than stock. I think the bigger gatling gun shroud (not really sure on the exact name) fills up the space pretty well if that’s what you’re worried about. Sometimes I wish I had put a bigger shroud on mine, but oh well, lol. Good luck on your project!

The mini h1's with the Gatling 2.0 shround fill up much better, i would either do that or the e-46 R shrounds possibly with angel eyes.

Fxr's have a much better beam pattern because they have less forground light than mini h1's, minis low beam may appear brighter but distance is less, plus FXR's handle 50w much easier.
