I redid the nightshade on the brake lights (outers only) and did 3 coats rather than 2 this time and holy crap is it black! Not much light is getting threw in the day, but its enough for the car behind me to see them turn on and off (had my wife follow me to verify this).
Anyways, since the rear turn signals on cobalts are also the brake lights, Ive always had problem with people seeing me try to change lanes. Today that ends. A while back I did an 'led ring' on my reverse lights...well this provides more light output than the OEM bulb, so the plan is to swap the OEM white bulb with an amber one, and rewire it so it acts as a turn signal.
When its done my outer lights will act as normal. Inner lights will have three functions:
1) Outer red LED ring goes on with brakes
2) Inner white LED ring will go on in reverse
3) center OEM bulb will act as a turn signal.
I'll snap some pics and video when its done and along the way.
*2 side notes*
1- I have super high output CREE LED projectors in the mail that will replace the OEM bulbs in the newly nightshaded lights so people can see the brake lights better in the daytime. I already feel light a jackass for having them as dark as they are, this dark wasnt the plan
2- Go slow if you clear coat your lights after nightshading them. I did 3 coats of clear originally and after this past scorching summer the clear coat cracked badly! The nightsahde layer was still great underneath.
