Cree LED Backup Lights, What Wattage?

I'm researching the Cree bulbs to use in my back-up lights. I see them in a variety of wattages. What has everyone been using?

Thanks!

I want to make a set with the XM-Ls, (10w) but I've been looking at the 7w ones on ebay.

The R5 is nowhere near the 'Newest And Brightest Of All.' The XM-L (or XM-L2 when it comes out) is probably closer to that designation. It may be the brightest you can safely run for under 5 min with a heat sink that size, but that's it.

Oh, and that 'test' of how bright the leds are is flawed as the leds point all of their light straight out of the end of the lamp. The stock 921 shines light in all directions, which is where the reflector comes into play. If that was a valid test, they'd have a reflector shining all the light from the bulb onto the sensor.

Sorry, I hate marketing gimmicks. Especially when it comes to led lighting.

For $15.00?

I'm just looking for something that is noticeably brighter and will display everything behind me a lot better. It doesn't have to be the best or the brightest but I'd like to be able to say "that was worth it" when I look behind me while backing up.

That HID kit they sell would definitely light everything up you would want to see, you'd just need to wait anywhere between 10 - 20 seconds (depending on the quality of ballasts) before that point. If you want more light, instantly. Go with the Cree R5 led ones. That's what I'll be getting.
