Making myself a license plate LED strip.
Need one of these T10 base.
You will need a short lenght of DC automotive wire (Red - Black) preferably to indicate polarity red being hot or B+ and black being ground.
Optional but I prefer doing it this way is shrinkable tubing to cover the solder joints. Colors again are obvious.
Also optional and again I prefer doing it this to avoid reverse polarity, is a bridge rectifier.
Of course you will need about a foot of waterproof LED strip.
In the middle strip the silicone off of the strip so you can solder the wire to the strip.
Solder wires red to positive black to negative. Then just dab some clear silicone over solder joint to reseal from moisture ans road salt.
In T10 base insert the 2 AC leads of the bridge. Cut and fold.
Solder wire to ends, red wire to positive (+)lead of bridge and black to negative(-). Don't forget your shrinkable tubing.
Add double sided foam 3M backing tape and your done. More pictures to come, have to wait for night time now.
Always test on workbench. Saves headaches.
Okay little tease with rear stuck inside the garage, but still daytime.
