2009 Balt Automatic Boot Shift Removal

Hey, for the life of me I have not been able to figure this out. I have a 2009 automatic cobalt and am looking to replace the shift knob (because the plastic button part cracked off) and have not been able to remove the shift boot. Every thread ive seen shows the other year models that do not contain the shift boot.[IMG][/IMG]

You have to twist the part just below the knob counter clockwise about an 8th of a turn and then pull down, next undo the hex screw and knob will come off. Be careful not to lose nay parts when you pull it off. sometimes the plastic push lever and the spring fall out.

I have tried turning the top of the shift boot right below the knob and it will turn counterclockwise, however it will not push down.

It should with a bit of persuasion.
