Painted My Intake and Upper Charge Pipe

So It was nice out today and I've been putting off painting my intake. I installed my upper injen charge pipe yesterday, and the color difference between that and my intake really bothered me. I painted it Dark Blue Pearl, its a Toyota color, but its not very far off from my imperial blue metallic.

So it went from this

To being primed and ready for paint

To half painted

And finally done and installed

I am so jealous. You are driving my favorite car right now. I can't find one to buy anywhere in Canada.

Looks good. For someone who regularly does car shows, I can see why color matching would be important. You wouldn't want to upset the flow of the car with clashing colors and materials.

It kinda helps give the engine a bit of flash for the shows, and it takes the eyes off the dirtiness of the engine bay. If I was buying all brand new parts I wouldn't have painted them, but I have been buying used parts pretty cheap, mainly because they have cosmetic flaws. I got the K&N intake and a full set of dash trim (both painted laser blue) for $180 shipped. I got the Injen charge pipe and forge bypass valve for $140 from a guy in our club. It basically comes down to me being on budget, and hating to pay retail for parts. So I buy the cheap ugly parts and put in a little elbow grease and make then pretty again.

Side note I still gotta put on the rear lip I bought. I got that cheap as well I just had to drive an hour and a half to get it.

Nice job! One of the easiest means to spruce up the ride...couple of rattle cans, few beers and time/patience. I'm getting ready to coat some steel wheels I bought cheap for my Chevy Colorado...black w/red center caps. Should be a nice little weekend project. Cheers!
