Plastic guards on seats

Does anyone know what the plastic guards on the sides of the seats are and how to take them off? I want to paint them black

Remove any handles that stick through the covers by pulling them straight off the levers. Remove the screws on the back side then slide them off. You'll have to pull the seats out. To do that, remove the two seat bolt covers and remove the two bolts. Release any wire connectors under the seats then pull the seats up at the back and out

And their purpose is to route the seat belts through so you can actually reach them lol
