Led footwell light help

I'm looking to install led footwell lights. I want them to light up when the door opens and then off when it shuts. I'm thinking the best way would be to wire them to the dome light? Has anyone ever done this before? Looking for some help on this as I'm not sure what the best way would be. Thanks in advance.

I know it's been done before and I'm sure you can just tap in at the fuse panel in the center console, not sure which wires you need to tap into though but I'm sure somebody that knows will chime in soon

Thanks! How should I go about wiring into that panel though? Never really done anything like that before and want it done proper the first time.

I soldered right onto the pins of C3 but you can use quick connects.

With using quick connects I'd just connect the two wires together correct?

I just stripped the factory wire back some and soldered the wire for the led to it then taped it allup

---------- Post added at 05:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 PM ----------

I don't trust those wire tap things, seen too many wires almost cut all the way through from them and one of them almost caught my brothers old truck on fire when it cut the wire and shorted out
