[HOW TO] Power Window/ Power Locks

Hey guy's figured I would make a HOW TO on how to convert a base model cobalt that has manual windows and locks into power windows and locks, for now it will be a build thread until I have finally completed the install, so I can add all the pictures etc..

So I decided to swap to power windows pretty much the day I bought the car.. I had traded in my F-350 that had power everything in for my Cobalt that had the complete opposite! The heated seats I was alright with as I didn't plan on driving my car in the winter, but manual windows, just aren't convenient at all! Having to pull over to open the passenger window and stretching out! Anyways, that's why I finally decided to convert, and slowly built up the parts needed.

Parts you will need:

REQUIRED:

-2x power window actuators WITH the motors
-1x Master switch Driver side
-1x switch passenger side

OPTIONAL
:

-2x Harness for the two switches
-SS Door panels

TOTAL COST:

This is really hard to pinpoint the exact amount, as I bought all my pieces from different people and at different times. Here is what I paid for the items, The 2 switches I got for 75$ and they came with the harnesses and also 2 interior door handles, got a sick deal on these on another forum. The SS door panels, I bought on another forum as well, landed up paying 130$ shipped, came with tweeters. Then the window actuators I payed 280$ for unfortunately. This I am sure you will be able to get for 130-150$. Those are all the main parts, but you will also need a considerable amount of heatshrink, and wire, if you plan on doing the install right. I'n total, I would say around 400 to 500$ Probably around 300 if you do it with original panels and can get a deal on the motors.

Now let me explain why these are Optional, First the 2 harnesses for the switches are optional but HIGHLY RECOMMENDED as it will make your life allot easier, otherwise you will have to crimp on small pins and ya it would be a nightmare. I was lucky and the harnesses came with the switches. Now the SS panels are also optional as well because you can modify your current LS/Base model door panels to fit the switches in using a dremel, I've seen it done and turned out really good. A bonus with the ss panels, is A, you won;t have a random whole in your panel for the manual window crank. Also the SS panel arm rests are much more longer and gives your arm room instead of having your arm resting on the switches. Not only that but you will also have tweeters.

A little bit of organizing!
