Head Gasket Quickie

REALLY quick - I just picked up a 2007 Pontiac G5 with the 2.2, the head was off and in the trunk.
I'm really handy with the tools, and this AIN'T my first rodeo, but...
Do I use sealant on the head bolts? I can't seem to find a definitive answer. Looking at the head, it doesn't appear the bolts pass through any water channels, but my kit came with that hi-temp sealant.

It could be they just throw that in with all kits.

RULE #1 - IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T TRY TO FIX IT.

Must be a reason head was ''OFF'', any bent valves from the timing chain jumping? Or maybe it spun a crank bearing??

Yes, the reason it was off was the timing chain had broken. As for bent valves? Well duh!

Like I said, this ain't my first rodeo. Went all through the head, replaced 16 valves, lifters, and rockers. all valves lapped in, seating well. New seals, too. Also replaced the balance-shaft gears, chain, and guides. Shafts seemed fine. I really just wanted a quick answer to my quick question.

do I gotta put goop on the bolts?

I even put in a brand new Pfetzer valve.

Nothing on the bolts just torque them to specs and order.
