I think your best bet would be to sand them smooth or not and then paint them black with a clear over the top. to just clear over the plastic wouldn't be the best idea.

probably to like 60k. most will last about 100 with stock springs. people have had good and bad luck with stock struts, i personally always thought they were good just too high for my style.

I was saying that it might not be worth doing your mirrors black because they are already black plastic. Do you have the painted caps though? maybe I was confused about what you meant lol

get ottp control arm bushings, ss/tc shocks all around, your lowering springs of choice, if you want some nice stability up front get a strut tower bar and poly sway bar bushings and an ss/tc sway bar if youre base model. and those control arm bushings for just lowerings springs are going to do wonders for handling. also consider a rear sway bar. it'll handle so good trust me ive been researching and doing this stuff a long time.

I could make a how to but I know there is one out there somewhere. I think on a different cobalt forum though. I stumbled upon it by accident one time. and yeah I made my own coil cover.

back in your Dad's day most cars were rear wheel drive that's why they put them on the back then. you want them on the front because those are the driving wheels and they are also your steering wheels so it's a double plus to put them on the front.
