Drivers Side Floor Wet when It Rains

I, am a new member I have a 2008 Cobalt ls 2 door coupe 5 speed manual transmission. for the past year I have had problems with the drivers side floor getting very wet after driving in a rain storm, and also driving thru slushy wet snow. I have replaced the front speakers and do have a gap in the drivers side door panel where the speaker mounting adapter was mounted. could this cause the leaking problem? Any help with this would be appreciated.

Garage
Did you try cleaning the drain tube for the HVAC? They tend to clog with debris.
