newbie

hi folks, another new member. i dont own a cobalt, but my girlfriend has a 2005 LS sedan, and since i do the main maintenance and work on the car, i figured i ought to join and learn some things. i dont have any real training on working on cars but i have been doin it for years, picked up alot of stuff and always work on my own, and so far i havent screwed anything up LOL. look foward to meeting everyone, and i will have pics up soon once i get a chance to get outside and take some. i also forget how to reset the oil life indicator (on the message screen) maybe someone could yell that at me real quick.

EDIT: heres the pics that i promised
i dont have a pic of the rear cuz im up against a wall, but im sure you all know what a stock cobalts bum looks like lol

Welcome to the site!

to reset the oil life indicator, hold both of the DIC buttons on the dash and it will bring up a whole new menu of options. go to "oil life reset" and hold the right button for a second and it will say "acknowledged"

Well you can unplug the battery, but the code is still stored in the computer. You will have to use an OBDII scanner to truly clear the code. I'm pretty sure autozone does it for free
