New from Maryland....

Hi Guys,

Just joined up, obviously. Recently grabbed a used 2008 Special Edition Cobalt to use as my daily driver (120 miles a day round trip)

Not looking into modding as much as I am getting some parts to restore bits of the car.

Picked it up for $6,000.00 w/ 66k on the odometer. It is a 5 speed has a new clutch in it. Recently ran it through $500 worth of maintenance top to bottom.

Just have to find a RIM and a Driver Seat (it is worn out badly)

I also own a 2012 Mustang GT 5.0, but that is my weekend, nice weather only car, but I will admit I love driving this Cobalt. Between the Fuel Economy, and just overall fun I have with it I don't mind putting a few bucks into making it look as new as possible.

Paint is in decent shape, body has typical parking lot dings. At least it came with four new tires, although they put Pep Boys Cornell 1000's on it (Ugh)

Look forward to chatting and hopefully learning some maintenance tips to keep her running tip top for a couple of years.

Look forward to chatting through the forums

Gary

Definitely hoping to get a ton of info to keep the Cobalt chugging. As I noted it is my Daily Driver. Only had it a week so far and already put 1,000 miles on it.

Picked up a used rim and now I got me a full size spare (Used one of the tires I replaced on the car which had about 3/8 of the tread left)

I would like at some point to get it into th ebody shop and have all the door dings and other blemishes repaired. Being it is a 4 year old car... I may just take it to a MAACO... I know they aren't the best shop, but they are cheap and do a semi decent job for $1,000. This will never be a racing cruiser, just something to get to and from work and make the occasional cigarette run into Virginia since they are $30 cheaper a carton there.

Changed my Serpentine Belt today... well I should say I had the shop change it, wow what a pain in the butt that thing was to change.

Also had all of the tranny fluid swapped out.

Also, of note.. Since I yanked the plugs in it last week and put all new ones in the car is running smoother and getting better mileage by the day.

As I noted the car had 66,000 on it when I got it, it now has 67,420 (420... WOOT... ahem...) anyway, those of you looking to see some better performance and mileage may want to change your plugs sooner than the 100,000 mile recommendation. I remember when they took out the old plugs and showed them to me they were pretty shot.

Today I had them tighten up the front end it felt a bit loose, and sure enough one of the LCAs was wobbling, not a lot, but enough that it needed repair... problem solved.

Also had to order a new radiator fan, the bearing is making noise so it is ready to go kaplooey.
