Chevy Cobalt-2006

My car would turn over but not start.I took it in to have a diagnostic done. They said this year model does not have codes to tell what may be wrong. So they looked at plugs,ck.Then timing belt now they are saying maybe catalytic.Really,no codes,is this true? Need some advice ASAP! Thanks so much.I wanted to say tho it does have 130,000 miles on it.But it bugs me when I want to see a report of the diagnostic when they tell me it does not show engine codes on it and I have not personally seen it myself. Now they called and said we will replace Cat. then we will go from there.I feel there could be possible something not right in this situation but do not want to jump to conclusions.Thank-you for your time and looking forward to any advice I receive.
