2007 Chevy Cobalt Issues

Had rear brakes replaced. Started driving and noticed that when I put car into gear. It was like my idle was low. I had to give gas in order to take off. When I applied the e-brake. I noticed it was tighter and harder to engage. When I got back from a 5 mile drive. My brakes were smoking. HELP ME PLEASE ASAP. need car to get to work and have no way to get a hold of the guy that replaced them
