One Hunderd Years Ago.
Now we all sit here getting answers for problem we are having . it takes seconds for mail to go around the world. With a click of the keyboard there can be many reading what we have to say in seconds.
Well back in 1909 it was much harder for some did not know how to read or write . and with only 8000 cars and only 144 miles of paved roads things moved a lot slower . The top speed on the cars of the time was 10 mph.
Look below and see some of the other things that have changed.
The average life expectancy was 47years.
the average worker made 22 cents per hour.
The average worker made between $200.00 and $400.00 per year.
Sugar was 4 cents per pound.
Eggs were 14 cents per dozen.
Coffee was 15 cents a pound.
Most women washed there hair once a month , and used Borax and egg yolks as shampoo.
Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering their country for any reason.
The American Flag only had 45 stars.
The population of Las Vegas Nevada was 30.
Crossword puzzles, canned beer and ice tea were not invented yet.
There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.
Two out of ten adults could not read or write.
Only 6 percent of Americans had graduated from high school.
Now here is the one thing I never heard anything about from my grandfather
Marijuana,heroin, and morphine were all availible over the counter at the local drugstore.
And to top it off . There was only 230 murders reported for the entire USA.
Now I would say things have changed.
But what will it be like 100 years from now we can only imagine.
So dose anyone know what the price of gas was I have seen as low as 5 cents per gallon.
Shame we can't bring some of the good old days back.
