can't go hardly go wrong with foreign food
and i think you had the right idea with some kind of live entertainment
and as for a gift i wouldn't say there's a $ amount your looking for but some sort of significance in the gift itself

Make it pretty, and she'll think it's fast.

Do a simple thing for her that day. Make breakfast (if possible with work and such), do dishes, feed the dog/cat/bird/whatever, vacuum, go to work (if you work that day). If you don't work that day, find an excuse to leave the house, get 3 roses (doesn't need to be a dozen), and leave them in a place she will be easily able to find 1, the other 1 goes onto the bed, the last one I'll leave up to you. That is what I did my very first anniversary and she still talks about getting "pampered" that day because she did not have to do anything. The rose on the bed at the end of the day, just finished off the day.

input from a lady:

food is always a good choice, food and a movie? good too. try getting a card, and try to be about as sentimental as you can haha. tell her how much she means to you and how this 1st yr was amazing, how you can't wait to see another 2 or 3 yrs w/ her. you could even mail her the card? it'd be a cute surprise.

for a gift? do something that shows you put thought into it, there's a lot of truth in "it's the thought that counts.." woman swear up & down guys never thing, so do something that'll kinda surprise her and put a lot of thought into it. it doesn't have to be wicked expensive either. but if all else fails? JEWELRY. can never go wrong, maybe a necklace? it's only the 1st yr.

there is a japenese (spelling? dont care) steakhouse near where i live and the cook the food right in front of you. maybe take her to something like that and request a private table i did that with one of my ex's and it was no problem. the live entertainment is def the way to go gets em all excited and when you get home.. YOUR GETTIN IT IN lmao. and blackbalts is right dont set the bar too high with a gift.. go with like a necklace or a bracelet something not over 120$ but its nice. or if shes into sports such as football buy some tickets and show them to her on your aniversary that would make her day if shes a football fan i know my fiancee is (damn steelers fan) i wanted to go the colts steelers game but yea peyton manning is donzo for the season so i said screw that!
