OBD2 Scanner Recomendations?

Trying to find a good OBD2 scanner, I've looked at the tech2s and the ones that are update to date are a bit out of my price range(trying to stay under/around $500) the other challenge is on the tech2 I believe there's a $1400/year subscription cost..

so far this seems to be the top contender:
INNOVA 3160

I have seen the USB scanners and owned one...but I'm looking for a little something more.

Snap On makes decent scanners. Solus I believe. Maybe you can find one used?

I use the torque app on my phone and a blue tooth obd2 adaptor. Are you looking for just a scanner or are you looking for a tuner?

Believe me you don't need a Tech II or anything half that much do do what you want. Only thing you need is the android app Torque Pro and a $30 max OBDII card enabled with bluetooth.

I have both the TechII and Torque Pro. Unless you're an Apple guy get the Torque Pro and a Bluetooth OBDII port adaptor. I paid $10 for mine, just make sure it's american car compliant.

A better question is what specifically do you need it for? Like others have said, the cheap ones will probably do just about everything you want.

Fair enough, the answer would be I won't know until I need it :P I would like to have one that reads ABS and SRS codes.

I know one of the Solus OBD2 scanners will give you diagnostic steps after you pull the codes. Though that's not a necessity..it would be nice.
