Verizon vs pre paid carrier

Ok so I'm thinking of leaving Verizon for straight talk to save a bit money each month. With Verizon here I get good service, but it's crazy expensive. I'm paying $100+ for my phone. Straight talk is like $40 a month. My mom has it and loves it. She gets incredible service because I guess it uses other carriers towers too. Downside is quality of phone goes down. I have an m8 and it's great. what do you guys think? I'd still have my m8 for games and stuff, but I'd need WiFi. A big plus of pre paid is no contract. If I for some reason need cash I can just not pay it and go a bit without a phone. Now it's not like I'm struggling to get by right now, but I feel like I'm wasting money every month with Verizon. So opinions?

That's why. I would never do the edge plan. I have the more everything plan. Just buy the phone and contract and u will save money. I mean Verizon plans for one line are like only 70 bucks a month.

Mine is like $110 or something.. but icant be committed to one phone for 2 whole years. I'd feel the same if I paid $80 a month anyway. Also I have 3 lines on my account. But I only pay for one. We have 4gb of data also

Yeah, I'd be happy with that. I don't think it's worth paying much more unless it's a necessity to have.. which I feel is like a business man or something who's always calling people. I use texting more than anything, and wifi lol

either way, i don't know how it is where you are but i did the whole prepaid phone thing for a few years a while back and it usually worked alright but the data connection absolutely sucked compared to through an actual account through att or verizon.. plus the tower priority always goes to the phones through whatever company owns them..... i even did the att go phone for a while which was better than straight talk but still worse than an actual line through a contract plan

but with the prepay you can usually wait a while if you are short on cash and just won't be able to call or text or use data... you have so long of not using it before you can't get your number back though, not sure how long

Yeah, it just seems easier to me. Basically everywhere I go has wifi. I'd still have a phone for emergencies. Seems like a nice way to save $70. If I didn't like it I could always go back to Verizon too since I'll have the phone
