Cars built before 1988 are exempt from testing, but apperently they're very strict in southern Ontario. There's mandatory testing (both visual & emissions) every two years once the car exceeds 7 years old. I've read horror stories about failing for minor things like a little surface rust, so I don't want to take any chances.

Car has only one cat, and it's an aftermarket high flow way downstream. Headers are catless. Car may pass a sniffer test, but it's less than guaranteed.

How would they know how many cats it is supposed to have? Other than number of cats, headers do nothing to increase emissions, other than increasing power.

But if they're going to be pissy, they can **** off. There are probably ways around it - or knowing someone with a shop who does emissions testing who can...help you out.

Probably why they have so many 3-4 year old cars for sale up there. Nobody wants to keep one to long or they're all leases.

2009 Ford Escape Limited - 3.0L, 6 speed auto, 4x4, 25/33 city/hwy imp mpg.
2017 F150 XLT-XTR - 5.0L, 4x4, 3.55's, E-locker, xtr chrome package, fx4 off-road package.

A member on the Eclipse forum who lives in Ontario said he passed the emissions test with no cats. All they did was plug in a scan tool to check for cat codes (both his and my tunes permanently read cat efficiency at 100%)

So perhaps I don't really need to do anything too drastic after all

Ontario is the Ford capital of Canada. Hell they even elected the guy. If you don't have at least one F-150 in your driveway you're doing it wrong
